I never had the privilege of meeting Madam Florence Konadu in person. However, my encounters with her son, Mr. Nathan Boateng and her dear daughter-in-law Mrs. Felicia Boateng is a testament to the woman Madam Florence Konadu was. A dedicated mother who instilled the fear of God and discipline within her children and treated her in-laws with dignity and love. Through the many lives she impacted, her legacy certainly lives on.  She will forever be celebrated and her good works will never depart from Her.

Kwaku Asare

I met Maa Florence close to some two decades ago during my tertiary education. I called her Maa Flor. She sometimes called me Kwaku or Sammy with some motherly touch. I felt loved in her voice anytime we spoke whether on phone or in person. Our path crossed when my friend Nat, her son who later became my brother and Mama my mother took me home during one of the weekends while on campus.
The welcome experience, the immediate acceptance and how she opened her home for me just seeing me for the first time created a kind of bond between us. A genuine mother son relationship. God has blessed me with another mother. That night she served us with home meals and Mama prepared a bucket of hot water at the bathroom for me oooo. A ‘kings’ treat. She left very early at dawn to market where she sells. But our morning meals were prepared by her. When we were leaving for campus, she advised us on our studies, our life style on campus should reflect who we are as Christians, prayed for us and she topped it up with some provision and ‘monied’ out pockets. I had my share just as Nat will have o. What a mother’s love.
From that day, her home became my home whenever in Accra even after school. Mama became interested in everything about me from that day. When I was about marrying, I had to send my wife to introduce her to Mama and she was so happy.
Maa Flor was hospitable, Mama was kind sharing her little with others. A very Hard working mother. Leaves at dawn come very late with her trade. She has sacrificed for her children and many around her with some of us even having our share. Above all, Mama never downplayed her Christian Life. God, thank you so much for giving us an example in the personality of our Mum. Her memories and legacies will always be with us. To her children esp Bra Nat (BodyBoy) and the entire family, I send my condolences and ask the Good Lord to comfort us all.

Fare thee well Memaame
Rest in Peace Maa Flor

Till we meet again, your son Kwaku

It is an ultimate loss to lose the boundless nature of a mother’s love.

Yet, in God, the source of life, we find everlasting faith and the certainty of a reunion.

May the Lord be your comfort!

My mum showed genuine undeniable love towards us. She always encouraged us to become the best we could. I remember seeing the fear and sadness in her eyes when she felt I was making a wrong decision or loosing something. She will keep showering God’s blessings and appreciate us for doing well. She cared for our friends like they were hers. She cared for everyone around her and took the responsibility to make everyone feel better. I will eternally miss you mum. The values and life’s treasures you have provided is one that will continually live on. Thank you for ensuring I was always in church. Thank you for disciplining us. Thank you Maa Flor. Rest wel
